RSS readers are used to aggregate news. Users can subscribe to RSS feeds from the websites and sources of interest to them, and use an RSS reader to scan headlines and read articles from a variety of sources.
Plenty of websites continue to maintain RSS feeds, and there are a wide range of RSS apps still available for those who want to use them. I've tried out a few, and these are the five that I thought worked best.
Internet browsers include a built-in RSS feed reader that opens RSS files for you. The content is constantly updated and accessible anytime you want by clicking the RSS link within your browser. You can also open RSS files using a free standalone feed reader available for any computer system.
Enable the Follow Site RSS reader in Google Chrome. Type or copy-paste the following URL in the address box: chrome://flags/#following-feed-sidepanel . The experimental flags page will open to the Following feed in the sidepanel option. Select Enabled from the drop-down menu on the right. Relaunch the browser.
Google used to have an official RSS reader called Google Reader. However, Google Reader was discontinued in July 2013. There are many other RSS readers available, including Feedly, Inoreader, and The Old Reader. These readers allow you to subscribe to RSS feeds from your favorite websites and blogs.
