What does a DeX station do?

The Samsung DeX Station enables you to turn your Samsung Galaxy Note8 and Galaxy S8 / S8+ into a true desktop PC experience. By docking the phone into the DeX Station, your phone will launch a special DeX mode on the connected external monitor and applications can be opened in multiple separate windows.

Is DeX still a thing?

Support for Samsung DeX for Mac OS ended as of January 2022. You can still use Samsung DeX if it's already installed, but there will be no customer support or updates, and you won't be able to download DeX for Mac OS.

What is DeX mode for?

Dex (short for Desktop eXperience) extends the Android Multi-Window or split-screen mode, allowing you to multitask easily between apps, tools, and devices. In DeX mode, you can see your full list of apps, access an on-screen keyboard, search for apps and items, and access and edit your phone's photos and files.

Is Samsung DeX free?

It's free. The DeX software platform is built into many of the latest Samsung Galaxy mobile devices, so all you need to get started are a monitor, an HDMI adapter and peripherals. And if you have a Smart TV or monitor that supports Miracast, you can even use DeX wirelessly.
